Abstract: The PST coding scheme was created by Professor Sir E.A Wrigley in collaboration with the late Ros Davies for use on the Occupational Srructure of Britain c.1379-1911 project. PST International, or PSTI is a modified version of PST created by Leigh Shaw-Taylor and Professor Osamu Saito (HItotsubashi) for the International Network for the History of Occupational Strucutre (INCHOS) project. The most significant difference between PST and PSTI is that in the fomer, mining is placed in the primary sector and in the latter in the secondary sector. The talk elaborates on the differences between the two schemes and the reasons for the modifications made in PSTI.
