Transcript:
Jane (to a group of children): Rabbits, I've got too many. Somebody has put a whole load of rabbits in my Longhouse. I'd like to make a stew but I'm no good at skinning them.

Child: I'll do it.

Jane (to another group of children): Go and do it, good man.

Now, I need straw from my meadow. Because the thatch on my house has gone completely... The winds that we had last night have blown it off. Can you go and cut me some good bales of straw? because I can't lift them. I'm only a woman.

Jane, standing, addresses the children seated in the hall before her:

He has gone over to East Anglia. His plan is to invade, to settle, to grab the new land, to set up a new life for us over there. He has been telling me in his messages that his hope is that we can spread our way, our Danelaw, over there in this new country of England. We're not the first to have gone over there. There is good land, there are good crops, there are riches there that we don't have here.

My husband seems to think that this new life is exactly right for us and I have now received the message that we are all to go and join him. We are to leave our land forever.
