Description: Please join the Leverhulme-funded Conspiracy & Democracy research project on Tuesday 13th May at 5pm at the Roger Needham Room, Wolfson College when Dr Pascal Girard (Reims) will speak about ‘Conspiracy Theories in France and Italy during the Cold War and Decolonization’. Dr Girard’s paper will explore how in the late forties and in the fifties, conspiracy was a significant concern in French and Italian politics.

Dr Girard will describe how the “red scare” greatly varied depending on the period, the political affiliation or the country; and the main long-lasting conspiracy theory actually concerned the threat of the far-right and, to a certain extent, of the government itself.
