It is highly possible that Malcolm MacDonald, a keen photographer, shot this film sometime during his posting as Commissioner-General for the United Kingdom in South East Asia (1948 - 1955). The film includes the following intertitles: 'Festival of Chinese Fashions'; 'Parade of Historic Chinese costumes showing origin of the present-day dresses'; 'Attractive Chinese Ladies model the "new look" in cheong-sams'. This is the only film in the Malcolm John MacDonald Collection held by Cambridge University Library. |
