Chris Rusbridge: FAQ on Freedom of Information (FOI) / Environmental Information Requests (EIR) for research data's image
Description: Recently high-profile rulings by the Information Commissioners Office have forced unwilling researchers and institutions to share their research data and correspondences. While this type of situation is not currently commonplace, it does make researchers, understandably, nervous -- especially when considering data on which they have not yet published. In this presentation, Chris Rusbridge (Digital Curation Centre, Director Emeritus) addresses common and emerging questions on how the Freedom of Information Act and Environmental Information Requests apply to research data. This brief presentation includes a discussion of exemptions and exceptions for research data, as well as links for additional information.
