Abstract: The Hankel determinants of Catalan numbers and middle binomial coefficients are evaluated as products of simple factors. In this talk, I present multivariate determinant identities involving classical group characters, which reduce to the Hankel determinants of Catalan numbers and middle binomial coefficients if all the variables are equal to 1.
