Abstract: The word “shape" denotes the external form, contour or outline of something. Shape is a basic physical property of objects and plays an important role in applications, from evolutionary biology to medical image analysis. In this talk, I will give an overview of the ideas underlying shape analysis and computational analysis, the mathematical methods and the questions one tries to answer.
