Abstract: | Given a hyperbolic free-by-cyclic group G, I will explain how to assign an action of G on a topological R-tree T_U for certain components U of the BNS invariant. For every element x in U, there is a metric on T_U so that G acts by homotheties and the kernel of x acts by isometries. This is part of ongoing joint work with Spencer Dowdall and Ilya Kapovich. |
